European Cities You Must Visit Before Turning 30

Europe may not be the biggest continent on planet Earth, but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in terms of places to visit.

There are many places to visit within Europe, but here is a list of the top 8 European cities you must visit before turning 30!

Reykjavik, Iceland

We start off with the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. Here you can discover a modern Hallgrimskirkja church that is visible from almost every part of the city. Explore Reykjavik by foot! It will not take you much time to walk from the shopping streets to see the wonderful statue of Sun Voyager to see the sun setting down in Atlantic Ocean.

Fact: Iceland is surrounded by both the Atlantic and Arctic oceans.

Budapest, Hungary

The capital of Hungary, Budapest is located by the river Danube. Budapest got its name, when both places Buda and Pest were connected by a first permanent bridge in 19th century. Whilst in Budapest, you can enjoy a day in a thermal spa and walk along the earlier mentioned river Danube to see all the night lights of the wonderful city.

Dublin, Ireland

Have a first-hand experience trying the famous Irish beverage by visiting the Guinness Brewery. Do not forget to visit the beautiful castle of Dublin and have a cup of coffee in one of the two cafés you can find inside of it.

Fact: Dublin has the youngest population in Europe.

Munich, Germany

Munich, a city in the south of Germany is well known for its famous festival of Oktoberfest – which is not surprisingly held in October. During the festival, everyone drinks lots of beer, eats a lot of Bratwurst (typical German sausage) and has an all-round great time. Once you are done with the festival, do not forget to see the Marienplatz, city-centre square, and go for a bike ride in the Eligscher garden that has a 78 kilometres long cycling path!

Fact: The oldest building in Munich is a toilet!

Venice, Italy

Venice is widely considered as one of the most romantic cities in Europe.  You will be mesmerised by a boat ride in the dreamy canals and by the Piazza San Marco square. Eat a typical Venetian Baccalà dish, fish prepared in a special way and served with Polenta.

Fact: Venice has 417 bridges.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The capital of bicycles and the capital of The Netherlands – Amsterdam! Taking a bike or boat ride down its canals is a great way to explore the popular city. Don’t forget to try the local herring whilst enjoying the city’s local neighbourhoods. The city is also home to some great museums, the Anne Frank house perhaps being the most famous.

Fact: Around 25.000 bicycles end up in the canals of Amsterdam yearly.

Barcelona, Spain

During your visit to Barcelona you can see the marvellous church of Sagrada Familia, as well as enjoy mosaics in the Park Güell. Go to Las Ramblas to enjoy local tapas and a glass of refreshing sangria. If this is not enough, you can always take a cable car to the mountain of Tibidabo and see the beautiful panorama of Barcelona from up high.

Fact: Barcelona has the biggest football stadium in Europe.

London, United Kingdom

Lastly, but absolutely not least the home of The Queen, where bands such as Beatles and Queen started – London! Take a ride on the London Eye, or explore the city on one of its famous red busses. Try the country’s famous dish, fish and chips before checking out Buckingham Palace or the assortment of museums in the city.

Fact: Around 300 languages are spoken in London.
