Today’s french work lunch idea – salade niçoise

It is an easy meal that requires 30 min of your day to treat yourself with a flavoursome salad.

In order to dress up the salad and make it ready we need to:

  1. Cook the green beans for 1 minute in a salted water saucepan on medium-high heat. Afterwards, we remove them with a spoon, shower them under cold water, and then we dry them up by placing them on a paper-towel-lined plate.
  2. Next, we return to our boiled water and we softly insert the eggs in it – which we will cook for 9 minutes and then shower them with cold water as well. Following that, we will undress the eggs from their skin and slice them from pole to pole.
  3. Lastly, we will take a large bowl and place inside the whisk oil, mustard, vinegar, salt and paper. In addition to that, we will add romaine and toss to merge with it. Ultimately, we will add to our serving bowl: tuna, tomatoes, olives, green beans and eggs.

2. Spain’s at work lunch idea

Bocadillo

The main difference to point out is that the bocadillo has similarities with the sandwich, however, the primary characteristic it differences them is that the bocadillo bread is a long ‘barra de pan’ (similar to French baguette) while a sandwich can have a small, medium or long bread.

  1. Cut the bocadillo bread in half and spread the tomato wedges, crushing them on the crumb. Enrich it with some olive oil.
  2. Place gently, kindly and with tons of love – the ham and cheese on the bocadillo bread
  3. Close the bocadillo bread that is now filled with ham and cheese. Cut it in three or four sections.

3. Italy’s at work lunch idea

Salad with chicken, pasta and PESTO!

An interesting aspect of pesto is its name origin, the name comes from the Genoese verb pestare which means to crush, in relation to the original method of preparation where the ingredients of the pesto were meant to be crushed in a marble mortar through a circular motion of a wooden pestle – which is quite an interesting fact for our work lunch idea!

To make this delicious Italian meal we will need 250 g of farfalle pasta, 200 g chicken breasts, 200 g tomatoes, 1 bundle of arugula, 100 g pesto genovese, oil, salt and 30 min of our time!

  1. Firstly, we cook the pasta in boiled water until it becomes ‘al dente’. Afterwards, we drain it, place it in a pot, and simultaneously take the pan out for the chicken in order to start stir-frying it.
  2. Secondly, after we carefully fried the chicken breasts, we slice them into tiny chicken pieces and place them in the pot with the pasta.
  3. Lastly, we enrich the pasta and chicken pot with meticulously cut tomatoes, arugula and insert the oil and salt your appetizing salad.

Wienerschnitzel

Germany is known for bread, sausages, beer, festivals and even free education! However, today we are going in for about one of the most famous dishes in Germany: The Wienerschnitzel!

It is an easy and tasty meal that anyone can make at home – so let’s dive in!

  1. After you buy one and a half pounds of veal cutlets – you put each veal cutlet between two pieces of plastic wrap and start crushing them with a meat mallet until they are very thick (you are free to think of someone you are not a fan of to release the tension and squash the meat properly). Afterwards, you immerse the meat in the flour (half of cup of flour should do it) and coat it.
  1. Moreover, we should take a midsize bowl and mix together: three tablespoons of parmesan cheese, 2 large eggs, one teaspoon of minced parsley, half teaspoon of salt, one pinch of ground nutmeg and two tablespoons of milk. Place one cup of dry bread crumbs on a plate. Dip one cutlet at the time in the: egg mixture, then in the bread crumbs to coat. After you do it for the rest of the veal cutlets, they need to be refrigerated for 1 hour.
  2. Ultimately, we melt the butter in a large skillet on medium heat. Cook the breaded cutlets until they are browned on both sides (3 minutes per side). Lastly, we garnish them with lemon slices and they are ready to serve!
